Biography

Mysticism, Color & Cosmic Philosophy

Papia Ghoshal is an international multidisciplinary artist whose visionary paintings bridge Indian spiritual philosophy, Tantric metaphysics, Baul mysticism, and European surrealism. Trained under the legendary Indian modernist master painter Prakash Karmakar, Ghoshal developed a distinctive, fearless visual language marked by explosive chromas, raw emotional intimacy, and mythological symbolism.

Working across her studios in London, Prague, and Kolkata, Papia treats each canvas as an arena where philosophy becomes physical matter. Her extensive oeuvre spans celebrated series such as Sanatan, Shunya: The Infinite, Magic Forest, Tantra, Body Politics, Eternal Love, and her iconic Portrait Series.

Beyond the visual arts, Papia is an accomplished Baul and Rabindrasangeet vocalist, a published bilingual poet, actor in international cinema, and founder of major cultural bridges connecting South Asian heritage with European contemporary art institutions.

"Colour is not mere pigment—it is vibration, philosophical rebellion, and spiritual awakening where the micro-universe of human intimacy touches the boundless infinity of Shunya."
